Who Works With Us?
Testing and Treating Surfaces
To test surfaces, we use a proven method: The ATP test, which measures actively growing microorganisms through the detection of adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, a molecule found in and around living cells. Because ATP is present around living cells, this test is a reliable measure of biological concentration and health. We measure ATP levels by using a luminometer to measure the light produced by ATP’s reaction with luciferase, a naturally occurring firefly enzyme. The amount of light produced is directly proportional to the amount of ATP present in the sample. ATP tests are used to:
- Control biological treatment reactors
- Guide biocide dosing programs
- Determine drinking water cleanliness
- Manage fermentation processes
- Assess soil activity
- Determine corrosion / deposit process type
- Measure equipment or product sanitation
To put it mildly, ATP testing is a widely accepted scientific measure.
Our proprietary blend solution is a hospital-grade, EPA-approved disinfectant. It is included on the EPA’s List N, which means our disinfectant is expected by the EPA to kill SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The products on List N fall into one of three categories:
- They demonstrate efficacy against the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
- They demonstrate efficacy against a pathogen that is harder to kill than SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
- They demonstrate efficacy against a different human coronavirus similar to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
Our solution can be applied virtually anywhere, including both soft and hard surfaces. When used properly, it is sprayed on a surface and then allowed to dry.
Our formula works by using positively charged ions to kill microbes mechanically, as opposed to using chemical means. Chemical disinfectants can leave residues on surfaces that can be harmful or dangerous to humans, including children, and pets.
When properly applied, the solution dries on the surface, and creates an invisible biostatic shield. The result is a positively charged polymer that acts as a barrier and continues to disinfect for up to twelve weeks. Long after the initial application, additional microbes, including bacteria and viruses, are rendered inert when they make contact with the surface. As an added pair of benefits, the solution also eliminates odors and inhibits mold growth, both added benefits. Because it contains no toxic chemicals, it is not harmful to people or pets. In fact, Ladero’s solution is so effective at stopping odoors without harming pets, that many people use the solution to disinfect dog beds and pet areas.

This process entails full, effective, and efficient disinfectant coverage using electro-static spraying, but our system is designed to ensure optimal impact. We created our system to capitalize on the benefits of military precision, and the process ensures the cleaning method touches every surface with pre-application testing, an electrostatic spray of our proprietary disinfectant, and a post-application test to confirm the effectiveness of the treatment. Our color-coded tracking system makes certain that every surface gets the full treatment. It’s a truly custom solution that works for any business who wants to host customers with confidence. But it doesn’t stop there: We also conduct random spot tests between applications to determine the disinfecting frequency warranted by each individual business.
With health and wellness expertise and the precision of a military background, Ladero has created a rigorous disinfection process that meets the highest standards. Here’s how it works:
First Step: A red marker on any surface means that area has been tested, but the disinfectant is not yet applied. This establishes the baseline prior to disinfection. The application team knows that this surface is ready for the Ladero solution to be applied. Clients will never see red markers in their facilities—we don’t leave them behind.
Second Step: A yellow marker on the surface means that the disinfectant has been applied. After it has been allowed to dry—usually in about three minutes—that means the surface is ready to be tested. The yellow markers are signals for our application team to continue the process, and conduct surface testing at the appropriate time—ten minutes. Clients do not see Ladero’s yellow markers in their facilities, because we collect them as part of our process.
Third Step: A green marker indicates that the application has been completed: The surface has been disinfected, and the bio-static shield has been activated. That means the ATP testing was conducted after the initial treatment and the surface rating is zero, meaning the surface is free of germs, viruses, and other microbes.
When clients work with Ladero, we plan four random tests in the first month after the initial treatment. This helps us to understand how our durable protective bio-static shield holds up. After all, not every business is the same, and some see more customer traffic and high-touch areas that may benefit from a reapplication.
